The Illinois Supreme Court has approved a pilot program allowing cameras in courtrooms at the Leighton Criminal Court Building beginning next month.
Cook County’s bid languished for more than 2 1/2 years as a behind-the-scenes debate dragged on over how the pilot program would work in the nation’s largest unified court system. Cameras have previously been implemented in 45 other counties in Illinois.
