Keep Your Children Safe: Educate Them About the Dangers of Trucks

As the new school year approaches, it is important for parents and children to be aware of how dangerous trucks can be on local roads.  It is difficult for a truck driver to see pedestrians and bicyclists, particularly children, even when they are traveling at a slow rate of speed.  It is even more difficult if a truck driver is distracted, speeding, tired or otherwise not fit to operate his vehicle.

Last month, a Bloomington boy who would have started 4th grade this fall, was hit when a truck collided with the bicycle that he was riding.  The boy died when his head was crushed by the truck’s tire.  The accident not only tragically ended a young life but also devastated his family and traumatized his friends, some of whom were riding with him on that fateful day.

Trucks can create deadly accidents whether they hit pedestrians, bicyclists, cars, buses or other trucks.  Truck drivers must exercise reasonable amounts of caution and be aware of those around them.  If they do not, it is easy for tragedy to strike.

If you or a loved one have been injured in a truck accident then you should consult an Illinois truck accident attorney as soon as possible so that you can recover the damages to which you are entitled and hold the truck driver legally responsible for the harm which he caused.
