There is no doubt that driving has been challenging in Chicagoland recently – as it is every February. Accidents are being continually reported and significant injuries and fatalities have occurred.
Last week, I-80 in Joliet became the scene of a significant accident involving multiple trucks. Luckily, only one person had to be taken to the hospital for injuries. The situation could have been a lot worse, particularly because it involved 2 pick up trucks and 2 semitrailer trucks.
The accident occurred just after 5:15 in the morning when a pick up truck lost control and hit the guardrail. The other pick up trick and two semi trucks that were traveling behind the first pick up truck then collided with one another. The driver of one of the semitrailers was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital. Traffic was stopped for approximately 2 hours in the Eastbound lanes creating a 5 mile back up.
Perhaps the best news to come from this accident is that it did not involve any cars. Drivers and passengers in cars can be significantly hurt when they collide with powerful trucks.
